Bespoke oak signs are something we make to order on a regular basis, they are of the highest quality and pleasure to look at. For us, signs posts come in a number of different variations, these stunning oak posts with cross bar suspend a beautiful carved engraved oak house sign to show off your house name.
We use the same skilled joinery techniques companied by machined precision to create engraved oak signs that will look better than you would expect. The crossbar is Mortis & Tenoned into the main post making it very sturdy. We then attach stainless steel fittings into the crossbar and sign so it hangs perfectly below. Each swinging sign and post is carefully constructed in our Surrey Hills workshop by hand to order.
Our Timber:
We use Superior Grade English Oak, meaning our house signs are made to the highest of standards. The timber is hand-selected by us to make sure it is clean and perfect for manufacturing into beautiful engraved wooden house signs.
Sign Sizes:
Because every house name is very different we have given you two sign size options. The small sign will have your house name engraved on 1 line, the large allowing you have split the lettering over 2 lines. If you need a larger sign or have an queries about lettering position we recommend you contact us to discuss your requirements with us, so we can run through your ideal house name layout.
Add an Arrow:
We can make the sign plaque finish with an arrow shape so it points in a direction when hanging from the post.
Engraving and Colour options:
All prices given will include engraving. You can choose to have the sign plaque engraved on both sides if required so your house name can be seen from either side of the posts once in position.
You can then choose to leave the lettering plain or have it paint filled. We offer White, Black and Grey. The paint application we supply is three coats of water-resistant acrylic paint, giving plenty of protection for the years to come.
Finish:
We have spent time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each oak signpost is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your sign untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low-maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timber’s natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however, this depends on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website
Fixing your sign post:
When it comes to placing your sign, we recommend you place 30 – 50cm into the ground and fill it with concrete for stability and security reasons.
