A unique engraved oak signpost, handmade from solid air-dried oak
If you are after something a little different to show off the name of your house – this is a unique and elegant way of doing it.
These beautiful solid oak personalised signposts are just stunning. We make these in two standard sizes from one piece of ‘Air Dried’ hand-selected English Oak. This is a truly unique way to display your house name. Handcrafted from 10cm thick Superior Grade English Oak.
All our Signposts can be left untreated, be finished with Liberon Superior Danish Oil or you can choose to have our hard-wearing Diamond Coating for maximum protection for a low maintenance finish.
We would like to stress, these are made from Air Dried Oak and not Green Oak. The reason why this is so important is because green oak is cut straight from the tree soon after it is felled and has not been dried in any way. This will over time dry out even in out door conditions and will move, split and crack as it dries and becomes accustomed to its surroundings.
‘Air Dried’ oak is as it states. It has been left to dry out over a long period of time – for several years and has acclimatised and settled into its surroundings. This means any movement or splitting has already occurred and can be removed leaving a flawless finish. This also means you can pretty much rely on the fact, as much as you can with a natural product like wood, that your beautiful wooden house signpost will not change significantly once you have placed it in the ground. Your signpost is already perfectly accustomed to outdoor conditions.
Setting your Personalised Oak Mile Post:
We recommend you set your oak milepost in concrete to make sure it is properly secure. You can purchase small bags of ready-mixed concrete to fix the post in the ground yourself or contact a local specialist. We recommend you set a minimum of 20-30cm into the ground.
Personalise your oak Milepost:
The price includes engraving on the front face – up to 40 characters. This can be laid out over one or two lines – it is completely up to you. We also offer further engraving on the other three faces if required.
Extra carvings like arrows or motifs, please contact us for a quotation.
