These handmade wooden swings are constructed right here in our UK workshop, to order, by hand.
Each of these swings are handmade from one piece of air-dried Superior Grade English Oak. This timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. Our swing seats are then hand sanded until silky smooth with beautiful rounded corners and gently smoothed-off edges. They are extremely comfortable it sit on.
All of our oak swing seats are finished by hand with Liberon Superior Danish oil which contains a UV filter so your swing will keep its golden colour for longer. This finish will require regular upkeep. However, you can choose to have your wooden swing seats finished in our low maintenance Diamond-Coating for maximum protection.

Our UK Made Rope:
All of these personalised small swings come with 5 metre drop of synthetic hemp rope on each side. This is a strong marine quality rope that is mellow in colour, soft to touch and is synthetic. That means it won’t swell, shrink or rot like a natural rope. Longer lengths of rope are available if required, so let us know if you need more.
These small garden swings come ready to hang and can be tied directly from a tree branch. Alternatively, we can supply marine-quality fittings that are ideal for adjustment without having to climb the tree. They can also be hung from porches and other structures with strong frames.
Knot Options:
Standard Knot – Our swings come with two-knot options. Standard knot – means the swing seat has a single hole in each end of the oak swing seat, then the rope is then fed through and tied off with a Stopper Knot underneath.
Spliced Knot – The alternative is a Spliced knot. Like our larger adult swing, the wooden swing seat has 4 holes – two at each end. The rope then goes through one under the swing seat and out the other and then the two strands are woven together above the swing. The Spliced knot will make the swing seat more stable.
Finish:
As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each oak swing is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your swing untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timber’s natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however this depend on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website –
Personalise your Oak Swing:
These small wooden swings are available blank, with standard engraving or can be personalised with your own unique message, using up to 25 characters per side. You can also add carved hearts, stars and other engraved motifs.
We can also engrave a secret or personal message for you on the underside of your swing, making your tree swing that little bit extra special. Carved names, dates, a classic children’s nursery rhyme or storybook quote, something witty, or just something secret you don’t want anyone else to see – but you know it’s there.
